NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Now a Hulu original series

“If three characters were good in Big Little Lies, nine are even better in Nine Perfect Strangers。” —Lisa Scottoline, The New York Times Book Review

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies

Could ten days at a health resort really change you forever? In Liane Moriarty’s latest page-turner, nine perfect strangers are about to find out。。。

Nine people gather at a remote health resort。 Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can’t even admit to themselves。 Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work。 But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be。

Frances Welty, the formerly best-selling romantic novelist, arrives at Tranquillum House nursing a bad back, a broken heart, and an exquisitely painful paper cut。 She’s immediately intrigued by her fellow guests。 Most of them don’t look to be in need of a health resort at all。 But the person that intrigues her most is the strange and charismatic owner/director of Tranquillum House。 Could this person really have the answers Frances didn’t even know she was seeking? Should Frances put aside her doubts and immerse herself in everything Tranquillum House has to offer – or should she run while she still can?

It’s not long before every guest at Tranquillum House is asking exactly the same question。

Combining all of the hallmarks that have made her writing a go-to for anyone looking for wickedly smart, page-turning fiction that will make you laugh and gasp, Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers once again shows why she is a master of her craft。

This story grew on me as I went along even though I felt it dragged at times。 In some ways it is a cautionary tale about the self-improvement industry。 But more fundamentally it is a series of character studies。 One takeaway for me is how the image we project to others may be completely different from what we think we are communicating。 I liked that there were various ages and genders in the mix of characters who voluntarily sign up for the 10 day transformative retreat。 I stayed with it to the This story grew on me as I went along even though I felt it dragged at times。 In some ways it is a cautionary tale about the self-improvement industry。 But more fundamentally it is a series of character studies。 One takeaway for me is how the image we project to others may be completely different from what we think we are communicating。 I liked that there were various ages and genders in the mix of characters who voluntarily sign up for the 10 day transformative retreat。 I stayed with it to the end, but I can't say it would make my "transformative read" list。 。。。more

I got really into this book at the beginning, I enjoyed the in depth character profiles and totally wanted to escape this retreat。 About half way the goodies happen and this is something that is very new age, current and relevant。 Not sure where the story was going it did become rather far fetched。 Looking forward to now watching the series though!

。。。more

i really wanted to love this book, but it was too slow of a roll for me。 the characters are well developed, and the story really brings you in (it’s a page turner for sure!) but in the end it fell a little flat for me。 i would give it 3。5 stars if i could。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Slow beginning but the last half is a page turner。 I love how the characters were wrapped up - Tony and Frances got married, author alluded to Ben and Zoe getting together and having a baby, surprisingly masha got her book deal and publicity。

I thought I would hate this book。 But I was so pleasantly surprised。 Such a page turner。 Brilliant character development。 I devoured it。 Great book ❤️

It was creative and different, but nothing about the plot really drew me in。 Was mostly waiting for something to happen the entire time。 The characters are likable though。

Honestly I really liked this book。 It was a unique concept to convey different ideas, stories and characters。 The story didn't develop in the way I was expecting which made things that much more interesting。 Each character had moments where I loved them and moments where I hated them and the way they interacted was really fun to read。 I think I could have gone for a bit more detail with a few of the characters (Ben and Jessica) and a little less detail about Francis' trip。 I am not a fan of ambi Honestly I really liked this book。 It was a unique concept to convey different ideas, stories and characters。 The story didn't develop in the way I was expecting which made things that much more interesting。 Each character had moments where I loved them and moments where I hated them and the way they interacted was really fun to read。 I think I could have gone for a bit more detail with a few of the characters (Ben and Jessica) and a little less detail about Francis' trip。 I am not a fan of ambiguous endings so it was nice to have things wrapped up a bit at the end。 Overall, this was a super quick read with enough intrigue and suspense to keep you locked in。 。。。more

2。5 Stars - I rounded up because I like Francis。 I struggled to finish this one。 It was trying to be exciting and yet it wasn’t。 I liked some of the character development but the plot was not totally there for me。 I might have high expectations for Liane Moriarty - I loved Big Little Lies and enjoyed The Husband’s Secret and got through Three Wishes faster than this one。 This took me over five weeks of constant putting down。 I actually read other books while trying to finish this one which is no 2。5 Stars - I rounded up because I like Francis。 I struggled to finish this one。 It was trying to be exciting and yet it wasn’t。 I liked some of the character development but the plot was not totally there for me。 I might have high expectations for Liane Moriarty - I loved Big Little Lies and enjoyed The Husband’s Secret and got through Three Wishes faster than this one。 This took me over five weeks of constant putting down。 I actually read other books while trying to finish this one which is not like me。 。。。more

4。5 stars rounded up!I loved this book because it was unique in many ways。 It's sorry line, setting, and the way the narration moved from character to character but stayed on the same story line。 It's did move sort of slow but I definitely kept reading with anticipation! I have mixed feelings about this one。 There’s plenty to like: the shifting perspectives, the characters, the concept。 But I never felt like I had to keep reading…

i was very confused for most of the book and it took me longer to read than i would have liked haha。 read it mostly so that i can watch the new show, which i think i’ll like as well。 Not my favorite book but not bad either。 I think i genuinely would have gone with a slightly different ending?? but oh well it was still captivating!!

Great beach read。 Fast paced, great character development。 Only gripe is it is clearly written with the intention to be a Nicole Kidman vehicle。

This had interesting parts to it, but not my favourite Moriarty by miles。 The different characters and jumping narrators gets confusing sometimes (I have to say the audible narration I listened to didn't help, possibly reading the book is a better experience)。 The events near the ending felt rushed and too drastically different to the rest of the book。 Kinda predictable and not as thrilling as I hoped for。 I expected more from the author, however I do think she did an accurate job describing how This had interesting parts to it, but not my favourite Moriarty by miles。 The different characters and jumping narrators gets confusing sometimes (I have to say the audible narration I listened to didn't help, possibly reading the book is a better experience)。 The events near the ending felt rushed and too drastically different to the rest of the book。 Kinda predictable and not as thrilling as I hoped for。 I expected more from the author, however I do think she did an accurate job describing how perspectives can shape realities。 Just meh。 。。。more

Three stars, rounded up。 I love Moriarty's novels, some more than others, but this one is my least favorite。 The writing is fine and some of the characters you really come to like, but the plot is so far-fetched it became silly and ludicrous。 I think it had potential, with a little more work, but it fell flat。 Masha was completely unbelievable by the end, like a cliche of the villain descending into madness, but I am looking forward to seeing the miniseries with Nicole Kidman playing her。 Three stars, rounded up。 I love Moriarty's novels, some more than others, but this one is my least favorite。 The writing is fine and some of the characters you really come to like, but the plot is so far-fetched it became silly and ludicrous。 I think it had potential, with a little more work, but it fell flat。 Masha was completely unbelievable by the end, like a cliche of the villain descending into madness, but I am looking forward to seeing the miniseries with Nicole Kidman playing her。 。。。more

This was an interesting read。 I enjoyed it。 It kept me engaged and I wanted to keep reading to find out more。 It was fun reading about these 9 people and seeing them interact with each other and go through this crazy retreat。 Really liked the psychological aspects。 Can’t wait to watch the show。

Not my favorite from her, but not bad either。 The story concept was a little out of my interest level but characters as usual were so her。

I thoroughly enjoyed Big, Little Lies, The Husband’s Secret, and Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty, so I was looking forward to reading this novel。 However, compared to her other works, this one fell a little flat。 I gave it three stars because the story did hold my interest and it had Ms。 Moriarty’s usualy blend of humor and poignancy, but it just didn’t have the emotional impact that I’ve come to expect from her work。 I received the electronic version of this book through a Goodreads give I thoroughly enjoyed Big, Little Lies, The Husband’s Secret, and Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty, so I was looking forward to reading this novel。 However, compared to her other works, this one fell a little flat。 I gave it three stars because the story did hold my interest and it had Ms。 Moriarty’s usualy blend of humor and poignancy, but it just didn’t have the emotional impact that I’ve come to expect from her work。 I received the electronic version of this book through a Goodreads giveaway。 My first one, yay!
